Hey, I've been thinking about how cool this game would be with some added features and updates to it. Resources, instead of just money would be a really nice thing to add, like maybe food for soldier upkeep, oil/fuel for vehicle upkeep, and maybe even boasted unit stats for more well fed armies (eg: a bit more movement/A/D on an army well fed). More detailed city sieges would also be cool, like having the ability to cut off an army's resource supply inside a city to starve them or even making a whole new supply route system that enables you to cut off an enemies army from resources giving them worse stats etc, this would also make the game a lot more realistic and fun to play... These are just brief ideas and anyone else feel free to post your ideas here for what you think could make this game better. Thanks! -Cameron.

No please , the game's fine as it is.It would be a headache to implement oil , food or any other resources , plus we don't really need those things. This game is not a simulation game.

Yes what kingjim said , we want to keep the game simple but that requires complex thinking and strategy like chess for example

Maybe you could enable/disable features like supply routes etc when creating a game, so more experienced players can play with more complexity and newer players can play with more simplicity

Thats what i was thinking, although it may cause some problems with maps that have already been made using the old ways and are popular.

Full support, I'd love to see this game resemble HOI3 a bit more and make mobile warfare viable by cutting off supply routes. This could also give islands an actual relevancy, too.

More optional game mechanics and in-game strategy such as that proposed by Metallic Fear would be great for the game - these game elements could add to the games realism as well as providing a lot more objectivity.

There are enough shit games on Internet with such concept. We play AtWar because it's AtWar and not some shit on which you have to buy 100k oil to win a game.

Atwar still uses the concept of using resources, or currency to build troops so its already like other "shit games on Internet" I just think adding a variety of resources would spice the game up a bit.

Newcomers to the game don't know how to manage their income effectively when it's just one 'resource' How do you think they'll do it with more? In my opinion, those type of custom maps will be popular in the short term, but will die out as people figure out just how complicated it'll make the game. Managing 3-4 resources in a 4 minute game...yeah no. The only place this'll be useful long term is RP, in which case we don't need it anyways. There are enough RP maps.

Is not complicated at all, for example a ww2 map could have the following: Manpower (Already represented by city reinforcements) Money (Already represented) Oil (Custom Resource) WW1 Manpower (Already represented by city reinforcements) Money (Already represented) Oil (Custom Resource) Food (Custom Resource) a map maker could make it so a infantry unit Costs $60 & 10 food units, and then it could simulate famine and lack of manpower by spawning events that have high upkeep of food resources.

It sounds interesting I admit. But my opposition is less that it's stupid and uninteresting, but more that it would make atWar maps too complicated. Time would be a constraint. WW1 maps would need more than 4-5 minutes. Although more in-depth strategy required to ensure you don't run out of food or oil isn't a bad thing, the complexity of actually managing and keeping track of everything is.

It makes no sense to make game more complicated and delay other important things to be done. Classical problem with special resources such as food and oil is that somebody will whine to make them buyable with protocoins, making game bigger pay2win. Also they are super fucking boring and annoying to manage.

As an option it can't hurt an can only add to the game. Players wouldn't need to activate it if they don't want.

Most of mapmakers who care about economic managment did this already. Look at some of Aetius', Pyrrhus' or Tik-tok's maps for example and you'll notice all those factors already. Why implement something useless and not do a lot more important things such as finishing mapmaker and fixing really old and annoying bugs?

I'm agreeing with tunder and Tzu here, adding resources would also allow other map makers less skilled than Aetius, Pyrrhus etc, to create maps with more economic management. And also allow the more skilled map makers to create even better maps for players. However, I do agree that the map maker saving and glitches obviously need to be addressed first but it doesn't hurt to plan ahead.

>Economic management >in aetius' and Tik-Tok's maps... You do know that aetius cripples the economy of his maps because otherwise high tier strategies become extremely op and makes it impossible to balance gameplay? Custom resources would give him more flexibility and picking imperialist would no longer be a necessity.
