I just read a story about Syrian troops clearing out another town from ISIS. Considering the complex situation going on, who do you think the US, Russia, and other world powers should support? Is this a choice between Assad or ISIS? Or are there rebel groups like Euphrates Volcano you think should be supported? Should the Kurds have their own state? Should Assad remain in power? How does this war end? Can we support all sides?

What do you think should happen if Turkey enters a civil war? Should the US intervene given the tendency of groups like Al-Qaeda to infiltrate countries in civil wars and form organize networks?

Lmao what? Assad is the reason why Syria is on war in the first place. Killing his own civilians by overdosing them with sarin gas which paralyses them and simply kills them. The one section that is not in this list, should be '''The Syrian Civilians''. I don't know if they are the ''Rebels'' but if they are. The rest is just bullshit.

Well as far as I know ISIS has already more control in Syria than Assad does, Both of them need to get away and those refugees (males) leaving their countries should fight for their country. I mean America and the NATO are not a good solution either and that is what makes Assad's strategy look less worse, but its as worse as the rest. How about the Arabian countries helping Syria?

How can Assad be the reason for civil war when his family developed the country for the last 40 years. Tourism, agriculture, industry, military. Syria was Middle Eastern America compared to other Arab states. Syria funded its students to study abroad, in America, Europe, Russia, subsidized entrepreneurs to open business and trade, gave freedom to women and created tolerant enviroment for muslims and christians alike.

It is already proven that rebels and terrorists used chemical weapons on civilians and syrian army, stolen from syrian military bases after they sacked them in civil war. It is already proven that American funded and trained 'moderate' rebels join ISIS en masse and transfer them American-sent weaponry.

ISIS has more territorial control but Assad controls most of the major population hubs like Damascus, Latakia, Aleppo (partially), Tartus and Daara (partially). Also, why just males? Kurdish women fight, infact they make up almost 40% of the Kurdish army. It's not like in the middle ages when you needed to carry a heavy armour and a sword, anyone can lift a gun.

Read. Just read. I said: '' And those refugees (males) leaving their countries should fight for their country'', meaning leaving their children and wifes in the country to die.. I mean I know ISIS and Al-Qaida are the bad guys, but just because they are worse than Assad doesn't make Assad's actions friendly and acceptable all of sudden? He was the one who started a Civil war in the ''Arab Spring'' where people wanted democracy in their country. I mean don't you see the corruptness just by thinking about a civil war, people protesting against assad, and him still being a president for more than a decade? Those people living in Syria are getting killed by their own government, by ISIS, by Al-Qaida who just have a free road into Syria... All I wonder is why the rest of the arabian countries don't do anything against it, and I assume thats because they don't want America justifying their actions once again and start another War in the Middle East.

Uh... how does that reply to any of the 2 points I raised? Also the reason the other Arab countries don't help is because they started the actual war by funding Jihadists so yeah.

The roman empire was divided into 2 empires. Roman empire(with ROME as capital) & Byzantine empire ( costandinopoli as capital)
That map is fake just like your brain, because byzantine empire never had italy or rome, or else it would have been called as original big Rome empire, which would still not make sense because the big Rome Empire had controll of west europe aswell which is not marked in the map.

actually, the date of that map matches the reign of Emperor Justinian wh did actually reconquer much of that (with help from Best unknown general Belisarius). There's actually a really cool youtube series on his reign, I recommend watching it:

I only read some of the answers here, because quite frankly, all the others are plain retarded.

I think the answer to Syria is actually quite simple.

Support Assad and his government, he'll eventually democratize it (if that's the International Community goal, altough I think Assad is the only one capable of saving Syria right now), and he will crush the rebels/terrorists/separatists.

It's stupid to support literally 'ghosts' to take Assad out of power, probably slaughter him like Kadaffi and then plunge Syria into a deep civil war and humanitarian conflict, Libya stile, even more than what Syria is today.

Second thing should be giving the Kurds their own country. Unify Kurdistan from the countries in which it belongs (Iraq, Turkey, etc...) because they've proven themselves to be honourful, respectful, and big patriot/defenders of their country and people, and that is to be admired. They deserve independence and Middle east should agree with that, something that the International Community should also sponsor.

But the answer to Syria is to simply back Assad against his Opposition and Terrorists. As Assad said, he wouldn't be standing has President if he didnt have the support of his people..

I can agree with the Kurds. Unlike other groups that have been oppressed for centuries and then once they have power, they abuse others, Kurds do exact opposite. It's as if they've been oppressed so long that they realize that no one should be oppressed. They developed what I like to call "democratic conscience". Instead of democratic values/ideas being imported/forced onto countries, societies, and groups, they developed it on their own AND are willing to fight for it-successfully. If given their own country, I would be shocked if they were expansionist in nature (and did so for genocidal/militaristic goals).
