All I can say is that it's way better than Facebook, for example. The great advantage Google has is the full integration with all it's tools.

You know what pisses me off about Google+?
<rant>
I'm a member of an open-source Twitter clone called Identica. Many free software aficionados are on there. Geeks and lawyers, in other words.

People are just willing to hand their data to Google after they had given it to Facebook. Google is known for making money out of people's personal data anyway, it's not like they have a clean track record! Obviously, Facebook has glaring privacy issues, especially with the default settings that most people use but the fact remains that Google IS evil, unlike what is stated in the company's motto.

But worst of all is that you do not have real friends on Google+. The mainstream market is still using Facebook, you cannot deny it. It's for anonymous users at the moment from what I've seen with people giving away invites and adding each other as friends and stuff while never having met each other in real life. Now that is bullshit.
</rant>

On that note, I think Google+ is going to die off fairly quickly just like Google Buzz did, the supposed rival to Twitter. It's not like this is the first time Google has tried to dethrone Facebook by the way, they've tried this before with Orkut which only succeeded in Brazil and a few states of India, but even this minor success is dying out.

Napísal Aristosseur, 11.07.2011 at 11:35

It's in beta. Then again, Gmail was in beta for 5 years when it probably was stable enough for a release... oh wait, when it came out of beta, nothing really changed anyway!

All the friends I have in my Google+ account are real friends. And you can't really compare the number of users of Facebook against Google+ since it was released a few days ago and still needs invitations.

That's right. Orkut is dead on Brazil, but I (and many others) still use it's community system, which is way better than anything Facebook or any other online social media has.

Well, I wouldn't call Google an "evil" institution because it's search profit in the first place. This is how the capitalist system works and Microsoft or Facebook are just as "evil" as Google. What matters for me is what benefits I can take with those tools. If the organization will earn money with my data it's ok. A fair price to be paid in my opinion.

Yeah, that's because Facebook doesn't have an email offering, whereas Google has the ubiquitous Gmail. And it's not as if you don't need an email to register--at the moment anyway.

Web history is enabled by default and although I've turned it off, I'm pretty sure Google still logs a great deal of my activities for AdSense and stuff. Every page you see those boxes that have "Ads by Google" on them indicate that Big Brother is watching.

I personally prefer Opera but you should seriously look at this, I used it for a while before I discovered the joys of the Opera Browser and I think devoted Chrome users should switch immediately. See this section of the site in particular and I hope you will download the browser!

So here we have it. A man full of contradictions. He's against the sort of control that also helps prevents crime and terrorism from the Muslims who he feels are invading his country.

What'll it be then? Less information, less security, more crime? Or the opposite? Make up your damn mind.

I am indeed under the belief that as long as I abide by the law, the government will also abide by its own laws and do nothing to me. Only criminal, pot-smoking scum like you are afraid of more control, because it means reckoning with what you have done.

I am not full of contradictions. Such control does not prevent crime in the same way CCTV does not truly prevent crime. Street lights prevent more crime than CCTV. The government has no right to listen to everything I say and know what I am doing.

Such people wouldn't be a problem if they weren't here in the first place. I honestly have no idea why we imported millions of unwealthy, unskilled people with completely opposing cultural ideologies.

>I am indeed under the belief that as long as I abide by the law, the government will also abide by its own laws and do nothing to me. Only criminal, pot-smoking scum like you are afraid of more control, because it means reckoning with what you have done.

Do you even listen to yourself? You call me a fascist. I'm astounded by this. Why do we need a nanny state to tell people what they can or cannot do with their own bodies? How is smoking a plant any danger? How is drinking fermented vegetables any less dangerous?

I fear control. OF COURSE I fear their dominion. They take take and take. They demand more taxes, more of my rights. They take away my right to defend my home or to even oppose their rule. We can't even own a handgun.

If they ever took control, total control (which they are doing, any fool can see how much the police state is growing in Britain) I have no way to defend myself or my people.

There is a reason the US founders created the second amendment. It was made to oppose government if it ever became too tyrannical. Once you give government Liberty, they will not give ti back without force.

Poor man. If you weren't such a vehement cunt, I'd feel sorry for you and the way you've chosen to live your life.

Now that I think about it, people who live under stress too much have significantly lower lifespans, according to research. This pleases me, as it means you won't grow to become an old conservative fool with actual money and power that some old people tend to have.

Assuming your precious substances don't kill you off first. would be preferable. Looking for a spot in the 27s club, old boy? I hear Amy Winehouse is doing fine there.

Cituj:
Google+ (pronounced and sometimes written Google Plus, sometimes abbreviated as G+) is a social networking service operated by Google Inc. The service launched on June 28, 2011 in an invite-only "field testing" phase. The following day, existing users were allowed to invite friends, who are above 18 years of age, to the service to create their own accounts. This was suspended the next day due to an "insane demand" for accounts.
Google+ integrates social services such as Google Profiles and Google Buzz, and introduces new services Circles, Hangouts, Sparks, and Huddles. Google+ is available as a web site, will be available as a desktop application,[citation needed] and is already available as a mobile application, but only on the Android and iOS operating systems. Sources such as The New York Times have declared it Google's biggest attempt to rival the social network Facebook, which had over 750 million users in 2011.
Google Apps mail accounts are the only ones that cannot be used for Google+.

You talk about government like it is a self aware being. Well at least you acknowledge that government has become something other than a mere representation of the people. I am not going into the conversations of ''rights'' as rights don't technically exist. Rights are made by those who enforce it. Our government is meant to benevolent but it's actions are not. The consequences of those actions are not. Government is greedy, it takes wealth and Liberty and grows. Every inch you give, it takes a mile. It is in its very nature a hungry beast and without any oversight from the people it will grow very big and always need more and more wealth and liberty to maintain control.

It is not a simple case of ''deal with it.'' If that was the attitude of government (which it technically is) it is an act of war. When they no longer represent their people and constituents, when they no longer fear the people and when they continue to spread their grip on the populace unwanted, that is tyranny.

Some people will deal with it. Others wont. So I will not deal with it. Governments don't bestow rights, the PEOPLE bestow rights. Individuals will bestow their own rights.
