Tunder, you mixed up the GGG! D: Everyone knows their priority was: 1. God. To spread the Lord's name. 2. Glory. With glory comes fame, and think about it, Ferdinand Magellan was able to say, "I was the first to circumnavigate the world!" thus giving him a lot of fame. 3. Gold. Gold was considered earthly back then (and to me and many others, still is) and therefore was the last priority in "God, Glory, and Gold" but was also one of the goals for explorers and adventurers alike in order to become rich. Saying it doesn't matter is like saying the "deeply" religious kings had secular ideas (referring to kings during this age). I know others probably have figured it out and I think people might get upset about this thread, but I'm just pointing this out on the forum since Tunder3 was banned (don't discuss his ban here please, and yes, I do know about him having other accounts, said so himself on the forum) but I am unsure which account of his to private message.

I understand more than you, god is fake, and you fear death so much that you try to consolate your feelings by praying to entities that do not exist. Perhaps somebody in your family close to you died, and you can't accept that he or she is gone, therefore you develop this feeling that perhaps you would be able to meet this person in the after-life, brainwashing yourself effectively dismisses the fear of death. Now can you explain me why god indirectly gives you luxury while Christians in Africa stave to death? Because you are white? Lol, god made us all to his image why would he discriminate fellow believers? That's right, he doesn't exist, therefore you have more stuff due to your parents and hard work.

Black Hole Účet zmazaný |
24.01.2014 - 12:00 Black Hole Účet zmazaný Africa?. If I'm not reading bull crap, it's not exactly poor, but poorly managed? And it's not God's fault that Africa is poor or poorly managed, it's humanity's fault. And if again, if I'm not reading things that are false or outdated, not that much of Africa is poor. Here's something I read about Africa: A completely different explanation of the latitude/wealth correlation might have to do with agriculture, if partially indirectly. In order to develop the industrial and service sectors of the economy, agriculture needs to be sufficiently productive that not too many people need to always be working the land. The modern agricultural techniques that enable that are best developed, and the knowledge mostly widely spread, in and for temperate climates. Tropical agricultural science is less developed, but perhaps even more importantly, knowledge of it is not widely dispersed in the tropical region. (Also, as for techniques that require capital investment and/or patience, unstable property rights may not be helpful either.) Much of this comes from some casual conversations with my uncle, who is a agricultural engineer specializing in tropical agriculture, so I don't have any good written references. The same guy: It's rare in the social sciences to find data as clear-cut as this graph. As you can see, it's not so much Africa that's poor, but any place close to the equator is poor. And much of Africa happens to be close to the equator. Of course, re-framing the question doesn't answer it, but it is going to point the way to some interesting hypotheses. Before we go any further, let me point out that lack of capital (i.e. investment) is never an explanation of poverty all by itself. It can only be an explanation if you combine it with an account of why capital cannot flow in from other places. The reason is that if two places are similar in (potential) productivity, but one has a shortage of capital, then the returns to capital are going to be higher in that one (i.e. people are willing to pay a higher interest rate), and rational investors should move their money to that place until the interest rates equalize. I point out the insufficiency of the "they have no money" argument because I often find implicit in discussions of third-world poverty that the problem with poor countries is simply that they "don't have any money" to buy farm machinery, or seeds, or industrial machinery, or infrastructure, or whatever. But if you had a poor country with such a lack of capital and no other obstacles to productivity or the ability of investors to get their fair share of the product of their investment, you would see an inrush of foreign investment, which is of course notably lacking in Africa. Also, in such a situation, it would be very easy to help the poor country with foreign aid, and we know historically that while foreign occasionally works, it is much harder to get it to do anything useful than we had naively assumed when foreign aid to poor countries first took off in a big way in the 2nd half of the 21st century. Hence, we dig deeper. There are a number of different hypotheses here, and they've all been investigated using fancy econometrics. I'll give some generic indications of the sorts of directions that research has taken, but I'm not a specialist in development economics and I don't really know the current state of the art. As for hypotheses that directly link latitude, and the associated differences in climate, to economic outcomes, for instance by way of its effect on agriculture, I have the impression that development economists find it hard to make those stick. The ones that are currently in fashion, and probably rightly so (but again, I'm not a specialist), tend to have something to do with "institutions," a grab-bag word economists have come to use to refer to the organizations, rules, and expectations in a country, including things like property rights, court systems, corruption in government, etc. A lot of research has focused on colonization and the way it has influenced institutions. I see in one of the answers the claim that colonization made Africa poor, but strangely enough, it is the poor countries close to the equator that were often colonized late and half-heartedly, with more emphasis on quick extraction of resources (or slaves!) and less on settlement and the building of lasting institutions or infrastructure. Why? Maybe because Europeans (and before them Arabs, who conquered the Mediterranean coast of Africa but never went very far into sub-Saharan Africa) couldn't deal with tropical diseases, or because they couldn't figure out how to do large-scale export-focused agriculture in the tropics... I really don't know if these are very wrong or right. Maybe you can help.

Bullshit, explain me why latin american countries are not affected by tropical agriculture? Why the economy of any latin american country in the tropical zone is superior to any african country?
Most of Latin America happens to be in the Ecuator too, the level of poverty in africa is biblical compared to latin america.
No shit genius, would you like to invest in places like this?
You are really gonna go into this? Latin America was RAPE in the name of God, most latin americans are breeds between europeans and native americans (rape), and they took all the gold back to spain, do you see any latin american nation having to deal with such levels of poverty? Maybe Brazil is having trouble right now, but they government its actually doing something, rather than killing each other and using child slaves to work the coal mines.
